Newbie to the Forum and First Timer at the woods.

Great Loved it, very muddy and did have several over the handle bar moments and i'm sure some trees have some of my body parts on them.

One thing which I was surprised at was the lack of trail markings, we got seriously lost but nevertheless still enjoyed it.

We started at the small carpark just up from the Norfolk Arms Pub, anyone any ideas which way we should follow. Haven't got the back for DH but the XC trails are where we want to be.....

Thanks

If the trails that aren't signposted were signposted, they would be ruined within a few months. It's better this way, honest! It's a long story... Si can tell you sometime ;-)

Follow your nose, ride the steepest rockiest stuff you can (it drains better) and you'll have learnt your way around in no time. The Transpennine trail (big fireroad at the bottom that runs parallel to the railway) means you can never get truly lost, if you keep riding downhill you will get to that eventually, and it's signposted).

The maps here are pretty helpful though http://www.wharncliffe.info/maps.html

Thanks for this. Yeah we found the TPT and the downhill stuff was a bit too much for our bikes although we tried it and the trees luckily stopped us from falling too far (Ouch).
Hopefully we'll be back ext weekend to try some other routes, not sure my mate needs a new bike.............
