Usual drill meet in the main car park to continue work on the descent line extension.

We will be picking on from where we left last time and will aim to clear and rock pitch the line to connect up with the existing descent line.
Will also try add some more small rock to some other parts of the extension where is is working a little loose.
Fingers crossed we will have had some aggregate delivered to DOB park (bottom of the hill) so wil also try and get some surface on the lower sections.
Time and bodies permitting we may also have a group going round the boulder trail making a list of repair works and giving the trail a little TLC

Don't forget to bring food water appropriate clothing etc as it may be a little chilly!
We have tools but if you have a spade or wheelbarrow it may come in handy.

As so many people turned up early at the last dig going to try a 9am start (don't worry if you cant make it) and that give us plenty of daylight to ride after if anyone still has the energy!

Sorry, there's a cottage in the Borders with my name on it. I wish you all well.

If anyone wants to get tools / barrows from me beforehand then drop me a line to arrange. As well as spades and shovels extra (durable) rakes can be handy and tamping plates.

Any chance of the whacker from Ed?

I'll be there.

Have no tools/barrow myself but happy to them up if that'd be helpful - please advise.

Cheers
Paul

Aggregate is ordered. You're getting 16 tonnes of 40mm to dust with extra dust. Should be delivered anytime before weekend to bottom entrance.

Paul - will let you know, ta for the offer.

If you want to puch the barrows of hardcore up there .......

We know it's a bit knackered and to fix it properly will take more than just hardcore (needs rock bed or pitching, as the hammer it takes will prevent anything properly bedding in). However, up there there's less natural material kickign about and getting harcore in is awkward / hard work.

It's on a list of stuff to do but not much of a priority.

well i'd shove barrows of stuff around (although it would probably have to go the very long way round), i can see your point about it never getting the chance to bed in though...

shame...

There is some exciting news for all you regular diggers too (not just at Stainburn).
Keep an eye on the homepage over the next couple of days.........

Hey, it's something on "THE LIST", it's just not at the top. I think it goes "finish DL Extension, Do PT extension / rebuilt, get into Norwood" at the mo' BUT it all depends how many turn up on any given day, who's up for what, what materials and inclination we've got etc.

Chaos? Yeah, pretty much, certainly to the outsider but we get there 8)

For e.g. I've had a random bloke email about a tonne of stone from his back garden. It's kinda earmarked for up there as we'll have to source a tipper to collect it. It's this sort of random thing that happens and diverts us along different paths.

yeah, i rode the top bit slowly yesterday looking at it with a different eyes, I can see once you started you'd keep doing other bits...

hadn't realised how the line was actually straying in someplaces... funny you mention that, i've been viewing various heaps of stone with whole new eyes since last month...

Big thanks to all those that turned up and helped out today with it being bank holiday weekend we didn't expect a big turnout or to get much done but the guys worked like troopers and got more than we would have thought possible.
Got a good part of the lower section surfaced it may be a little thin in places and we have already noticed a few narrow sections but we can sort these next month.

Please not that while it has some surface down we have not been able to compact this and with the sun and wind its dried out very fast so any riding on the trail will cause serious damage and only further delay our efforts to complete the trail so please stay off!

Dave, Ed and John take a well earned rest after barrowing all the way up the hill (sorry I didn't get a photo of Chase)

Don't forget that for every dig day you attend (all STA venues) you get a ticket to go in the draw to win a Ragley blue pig frame.

As next months dig day is also due to fall on a bank holiday weekend we have decided to move it to the second Sunday so will be on the 9th May.

Sorry I missed the dig day. A quiet beer on Saturday night turned into considerably more than that and i could barely function on sunday (and I was still struggling on Monday).

Don't think I can make May 9, so if there is any other opportunities to 'go and do a bit' be sure to let me know.

Cheers
Paul
