I might drop a line to Wide Open mag and put that article in its proper context. Might also drop a line to Sam as his website's not exactly hard to find on the www.
Still, it's not us building unsanctioned stuff and it's FE's job to police the wood so you do get tempted to just leave them to sort these things out for themselves. But then you realise it's all the more likely to blow back on us, despite it being nothing to do with us, so we keep plugging on, trying to do their job for them.
The sooner we get back into Norwood and restablish the proper route the better, IMO. Whether telling the unsanctioned builders that what they're doing jeopardises future development will have much luck, who knows. I'm sceptical. I'm pretty sure we explained the realities of unsanctioned trail building to Sam by email after the Norwood Crag lines sprung up.

The skinny on Norwood side has been destryed by FE WHY WHYWHYWHYWHY
Sorry to hear about the skinny, I thought they'd forgotten / changed their minds about removing it. I argued as hard as I could against them removing that but FE were adamant that all built structures had to be removed from that side (Norwood). I struggled to understand their reasons (the platform drop built by others was understandable, given the shonky construction) for doing so. I think I wrote to you and several others about it at the time
For FE it revolved around not having the time, effort and funds for inspections, and to some extent that it wasn't designed. I don't agree with any of the reasons, but after a certain point there is nothing I / we can do. They never really gave me a thorough breakdown of reasons, in writing, as I asked. What they did supply I think I posted up a while ago on the forum.
Very galling to be told things have to come out on a risk basis and then see the frankly awful standard of work to decommission them - just chainsawed through and the resulting bits left scattered around site, wire, nails, screws and fixings all over the place. I mentioned it to Nick (Beat Forester) and he promised to look into it but I don't know if this has happened or anything been done subsequently. Oh, and I pointed out it had been inspected and approved previously by FE.
Edit, found it:

Hello All
Summary of the meeting on the 22nd October
Norwood Edge - There is to be no built route in Norwood edge, as agreed
previously the brash can be removed from the old line, and where
necessary diverted around areas damaged through harvesting. There is to
be no digging/ armouring of the trail.
All wooden structures to be removed including the Northshore up by the
mast, the jump and the 'bridge'over the ditch at the bottom. The larch
planking over the wet area will be removed. Stones can be placed in
this area to aid crossing for both walkers and cyclists.
The trail will not be signed.
Warrren Plantation - An extended area for the pump track was agreed.
There is also the possibility of adding braided black sections off the
descent lines - all plans to passed by Martin O'Vaster FC civil engineer
prior to building. The development of any other lines in this section
will be discussed as necessary in future.
It was agreed that SingletrAction could add an A4 sign onto the header
board in the carpark behind perspex. If this sign is to be replaced in
future we will look to get one with a section for SingletrAction.
Thanks
