I'll be there, are we going to get some posts on other sites to try and improve the turn out again, as we're so close to finishing the extension??

Yeah. Got the morning set aside for it.
I need to watch out with the barrows though - the last session left me in a right state of f***edness last time. It took all week to recover (which isn't easy when the mail must get through).

Might make it for a bit, but i am likely to have 3 kids    in tow so not sure how much help i will be

I can either stand at the agregate pile and load barrows (whilst the lads dig in it and generally get in the way and spread it where we don't want it)

Or

I could rake off the last section of Norwood, the bit where the skinny used to be and keep out of your way, this section is all there just needs the brash clearing off.

I'll probably be coming and bringing kids so if your's want some company Paul we could organise them into a 'mini-diggers' team and get them doing some rock pitching.

Actually they will probably just try and dam the stream like they did last time :)

Sounds like a plan Mark, should be there from about 10am for a couple of hours, possibly longer depending on the "mini diggers".

I should be there for a few hours in the morning. Dog in tow (possible entertainment for the kids?).

Unfortunately it's going to be a short day for me, got to be home by midday. My aim is to not talk as much and push barrows like a barsteward

Also hope to be up there "early" as well. Anyone who knows me may have doubts about that

Blobbing out again, sorry. I'm in the Lakes this weekend doing some farting around as prep for a trip to Switzerland in August.

Would 5m and 3m length of 4" perforated land drain be of any use for the new pump track extension?
If it is i can bring it on Sunday stash it near the PT, if not it is going in the skip tomorrow. 8)

As hard as it is to believe, i was hoping to get down this month and muck in but unfortunately I've got the awful task of having to go to Dublin for a mates Stag do!!

Will try get across for July I promise, in the meantime, whilst riding on thursday night I came across a load of flytipped cupboards just a few yards down the trail at the top entrance to the mast. Must've been done in the week as it wasn't there on bank hol monday!!

Not expecting you guys to clear it up but maybe a mention to Fe would be an idea.

Well that was fun

Next time i decide to bring 3 kids trailbuilding in the rain can somebody please slap me

Managed to rake the last section (200m ish) on the norwood trail from the bottom corner (lowest point) back past the old skinny and up to the gate, raked all brash clear and cut back the branches.

That entire bottom section should now be passeble again 8)

Gave up at at this point due to 3 wet whining Kids, rain , Midges, decided to have the picnic at home

Really big thanks to all that turned up today and helped out especially with the weather while it was cooler than recent and almost refreshing at points it did get a little heavy and demoralising hence why we all started packing up at 12:30ish!

It was a long push up today but we managed to get quite a bit of surface down this might not add up to much length of trail but the volume required due to width and making sure we got a good surface made it more than made it worthwhile.

The end really is in sight now with almost half of the next section already dug and rocked it just a question of numbers. With a god turnout we could patch up some of the lower sections finish the surface and complete the connection to the descent line.

Its so close to being linked up!!
ImageImage
And this part is already dug and part rocked

Remember everyone who helps at the dig gets not only a sachet of Fenwick bike cleaner but a entry to the prize draw for the Blue Pig frame!
Craig Smith
Paul Stokes
John Light
Dave Brayshaw
Ged Davies
Jason Ashworth
Tim Sellors
Nick Burgin
Jon Swift
Mark Bitchford and helpers
Paul Jackson and helpers

Also thanks to Clive Barnett and Chris Corbett who broke off from a ride and pushed a few barrow loads up the hill for half an hour.

Please remember that while sections of the trail look complete or ridable the surface hasn't had time to settle and riding will only damage the trail and delay it being completed this was quite evident with sections which had been surfaced last month which where very loose thanks to a combination of peoples eagerness to ride the track and the dry weather.

I think next dig day we will be working our way up patching areas which need a little more surface or have been damaged and widening a few bits before continuing from where we left off today and filling in a few gaps and finishing off the berm.

Berm to finish and sort section to surface which shouldn't take long as we will be leaving a number of the big rocks uncovered.
